WHAT WE DO
Earth4ever is a social organisation that works with communities of indigenous farmers living in fragile eco-sensitive zones in Maharashtra, India. We run a Permaculture Demonstration Centre in collaboration with a local farmer, where farmers (especially women) are enabled with the knowledge of regenerative farming practices including soil rejuvenation and water harvesting. Our approach is participatory and we co-design biodiverse Food Forests and Kitchen Gardens along with the community, so as to come up with solution that are relevant to the challenges of the region. We aim to create resilience in the areas of food and health security, and income generation, leading to mitigation of the effects of climate change, and regeneration of the local ecology.
WHY WE DO
The regions we work in have lost much of its forest cover due to clearance of land for conventional agriculture.
We believe that if a small community of farmers practice Permaculture and Regenerative Farming principles (on just a tiny plot of their land), they will immediately experience the benefits of it
in comparison with conventional practices.
This would not only motivate them to expand the same practices on the rest of their land,
but also inspire other farmers in their region to come forward and adopt regenerative practices.
Over time as the areas grow,
these practices would re-establish ecological interconnections
and restore symbiotic relationships that are fundamental to nature -
bringing life back to soils, raising water tables
regenerating native biodiversity
and uplifting the quality of life for all to thrive
and benefit the community as a whole.
"Though the problems of the world are increasingly complex,
the solutions remain embarrassingly simple."
Bill Mollison
WE RESOLVE TO
CARE FOR THE EARTH
by respecting the symbiotic and interdependent relationship
between Earth's natural resources and it's biodiversity, and regenerating it.
CARE FOR PEOPLE
by sharing
knowledge and experiences
to build resilient and regenerative lifestyles, and working towards a
better quality of life for everyone.
WORK WITH SURPLUS
by regenerating our natural resources and creating surplus
we are enabled to
care for the earth and for people.
